Rental of devices for treatment

If you would like to take advantage of this offer and make an active attempt to reduce the problem yourself, you can borrow devices for treatment free of charge. This may not be common in many countries. Check with your doctor and your continence advisor.

You need to contact your doctor for an investigation of your problem. The doctor can recommend various measures. You can also ask to try simple treatment alternatives such as electrical stimulation and biofeedback. If your doctor does not have an established programme, you can request a referral to a doctor, specialist nurse or physiotherapist at the hospital or a private clinic. When the rental has been approved, you will be able to borrow the equipment for 3-6 months. Once you have received training in the use of your equipment from your health practitioner, you can take the device home. If you have any technical problems with the device or need user instructions, etc., you can contact your health practitioner or Vitacon. At the end of the rental period, you will receive a letter in the post asking you to return the device. A franked envelope is included with the device. When you have completed the treatment, all disposable equipment such as probes and tubes can be discarded.

Electrical stimulation uses small plugs which are placed on the skin, in the vagina, in the rectum, or on the penis. The treatment is simple, safe and painless.

For biofeedback, specially designed probes are used to provide feedback about the strength of the pelvic floor muscles.
